Genmaicha is a traditional Japanese style of green tea. It's also known as Brown Rice Tea. Typically it's comprised of three elements: sencha leaf, matcha powder and cooked rice or popcorn. The idea of rice or popcorn in a tea catches some off guard. It's a crucial element of genmaicha because so easily does matcha overpower the sencha. With the proper ratio of these three elements, you'll be left with a highly aromatic, full-bodied green tea that will compliment anything from sushi to cocktails.
