Tubby Dog's OG Ukrainian Sausage "The Ukey" is now available!
TUBBY DOGopened its doors in August 2005, but the hotdogs were being served long before. Owner and creator,JON TRUCH, started making hotdogs (and other bachelor foods) in his basement sculpture studio at the Alberta College of Art and Design years ago, much to the delight of studio mates and passers by. In the evenings, Truch was slinging dogs over the bar at Calgary's now defunct Night Gallery. Tuesday nights were slow at the Gallery and Truch knew that free food and good tunes would bring the masses. However, the Night Gallery closed its doors and Truch's hotdog's were now homeless.
A few years later, Truch opened Tubby Dog on17TH AVE IN THE DOWNTOWN CORE. Open day and night, serving beers, dogs, twinkies and T-rings,TUBBY DOGhas become a Calgary staple.
