What to do with leftover Easter Ham

Brought to you by our in-house Chef Kai Salimaki

The Easter bunny has come and gone, the family feasts will be over and soon we'll be staring at our fridge with half a giant ham sitting there beckoning to be eaten. What to do with this leftover pile of amazing pork? Let us help guide you in providing some recipes and ideas to tackle that mountain of meat.

Ham (pork) is such a versatile protein and in our opinion, it has a rightful place as an ingredient in every meal of the day. Wherever the ubiquitous bacon is used, you can easily substitute with your leftover ham. Be creative and have fun!

Breakfast

Eggs Benedict

Typically, Eggs Benedict uses back bacon. Here is a great opportunity to use up your leftover ham, slice it thinly and give it a quick sear before placing on your english muffin.

Egg & Crispy Ham Hash

When most people think of a breakfast hash, they go immediately to corned beef. Here we substitute it with our leftover ham. Give it a quick dice and fry up with the rest of your ingredients and you are off to the races.

Ham & Cheese Frittata

Similar in nature to an omelette with a lot less fuss. Frittatas can be the ideal dumping ground for all your leftovers. Scramble your eggs in a bowl with a little cream, throw your ingredients in a pan, saute, pour egg mix in, stir around, top with cheese and broil until cooked through and bubbly!

Split Pea & Ham Soup

One of my all time favourite soups. I used to make this soup with my grandmother and it screams nostalgia. It's typically done with pork hocks but leftover ham is super easy to use. Bonus point - if you still have the bone from the ham, throw it in your stock/soup for extra flavour.
